2003 150x20cm Berimbau, electronic circuit and computer mouse Private collection
The Digital Berimbau is a sound sculpture built by adapting a computer mouse to a traditional berimbau. A striking mechanism is fixed to the instrument’s string. When the mouse is clicked, the string is struck. In this work, the mouse, which is normally used as an interface for interactions in the digital environment, actually strikes the string.
The digital Berimbau was exhibited at the 3rd National Art Salon of Goiás – Goiânia, Go, Brazil in 2003.
