Electric berimbau, 2007, detail of acrylic painting on wood on the object’s amplifier box
2007
120X15X5cm
A sound device made of wood, steel strings, electronic circuits, effects pedal and amplifier.
Private collection
The Electric Berimbau is a sound device that has an internal effects pedal. It has, for example, overdrive, delay, reverb, among others. It is a monochord and has a button on the neck that, when pressed, activates a lever that touches the string, thus producing a tone higher than the open string.
It was presented in 2007 and 2008 at the exhibition “Os Trópicos” curated by Alfons Hug.
