Sound installation built with copper pipes and connections, garden lamp, light box, amplifier, water pump, speaker and effects pedal
Private collection

Fountain is a sound installation. It has two outlets that spray water onto a metal top and four other outlets with a water stream that feed four small watermills. The watermills randomly strike the metal top as they fill with water. A magnetic pickup captures the sound from the top that goes into an effects pedal. Reverb, echo, wah-wah, chorus, flanger, etc. are added to the original sound. The processed sound goes into an amplifier and is reproduced through a speaker. The resulting sound is composed of dripping, metallic percussion, and water circulation. A sound environment is created, giving the sensation of being inside a cave or a well, or even of witnessing a fountain in our dreams.

The work Fontain was exhibited at the exhibition Paralela 2010 The Contemplation of the World – Lyceum of Arts and Crafts – São Paulo, SP, Brazil, curated by Paulo Reis.
