Luiz Zerbini Collection

The Guitar was specially designed and built by Paulo Nenflidio under the order of the artist Luiz Zerbini, a member of the group Chelpa Ferro. It has 6 guitar strings that produce sound through an electromechanical control circuit and a positive magnetic feedback circuit (infinite sustain). The mechanical control activates striking mechanisms that strike the strings at individually adjustable speeds for each string. The minimum speed is one beat every 3 seconds and the maximum is approximately 200 beats per second. The electromagnetic sustain control causes the strings to enter into resonance, vibrating at the fundamental harmonic or at higher harmonics. The way in which the string vibrates depends on the position of the solenoids and pickups in relation to the length of the string. A rail allows both to be slid, changing the way the strings vibrate.
