Rain essay is a plastic sound composition inspired by the sound of rain. Based on the analysis of the sound of rain, a table of minimum and maximum values of duration, frequency spectrum, amplitude and interval between drops was created. Based on this data, four electronic circuits were built that generate electric drops, reproduced on speakers. Three circuits generate droplets in low, medium and high frequencies. Another generates dripping. An analog TV off the air generates white noise that is used as background sound. Each circuit reads the amount of water in a series of test tubes. This determines the dynamics of the sound result. A greater volume of water results in a stronger rain. As the rain evaporates, it becomes thinner. When it dries, the result is silence. Ensaio da Chuva also uses the names of some Brazilian rivers as a reference and brings with it a desire, a ritual of water purification.
