The Solar Cicada is a sculpture based on this insect. When exposed to sunlight or artificial (incandescent) light, it produces the typical sound of cicadas and turns its eyes on and off. It is part of the “Solar Animals” series, which are sculptures with solar cells. Sunlight is converted into electrical energy, activating the sculpture.
