Wood construction, electronic circuits, steel strings and striking mechanisms
Private collection
This is a study for the construction of the Music Generator (an indeterminate and autonomous music box). It has 6 strings that are struck randomly by striking mechanisms, producing a sequence of indeterminate notes. Study No. 1 is shaped like a portable suitcase that also functions as a speaker. While it is an experiment in autonomous music, it can also be manipulated as an instrument.
Study for Music Generator No. 1 was presented in 2005 at the performance Improvisation for Iron Structures at CCSP with the participation of musicians Thomaz Roher (fiddle and sax) and Antonio Panda Gianfratti (percussion).
